Journal Description
Veredas do Direito is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal established in 2004 by Dom Helder Escola Superior (DHES) as a space for dialogue between Brazilian and international academic institutions. Since its inception, the journal has been characterized by the publication of high-quality research authored by renowned national and foreign scholars, reflecting a strong commitment to academic excellence, internationalization, and diversity of perspectives. Its name, inspired by Grande Sertão: Veredas by Guimarães Rosa, symbolizes the multiple intellectual paths explored by the journal and its openness to interdisciplinary engagement beyond traditional legal studies.
Originally dedicated to Law in a broad sense, Veredas do Direito progressively refined its academic identity following the creation of the Master’s Program in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development at DHES in 2009. Over time, the journal achieved significant academic recognition, reaching the highest Qualis classification (A1) in 2016. Since 2025, it has expanded its editorial policy to accept submissions from all fields of knowledge, reaffirming its commitment to interdisciplinarity and contemporary scientific dialogue. The journal is currently edited by Professor Antônio Leonardo Amorim and is published under a continuous publication model.
