Russian Law Journal
Description
The Russian Law Journal is one of the first academic legal journals published in English from Russia, aiming to bridge the gap between Russian legal scholarship and the global academic community. Founded by scholars from Moscow State Lomonosov University, the journal provides a platform for high-quality comparative legal research and analysis of contemporary legal developments in Russia, Eurasia, and beyond. With contributions from leading Russian and international law scholars, and governed by an independent editorial process, the journal aspires to make Russian legal thought accessible and relevant on the international stage.
Scope of the Journal
The Russian Law Journal embraces a broad and interdisciplinary approach to legal scholarship, welcoming original research across all branches of law and the wider social sciences. In addition to core legal areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, international law (public and private), human rights law, legal theory, civil and criminal procedure, law and economics, and law and society, the journal also encourages contributions from fields closely related to law within the social sciences. These include political science, sociology, international relations, criminology, social policy, public administration, forensic studies, philosophy of law, judicial studies, comparative politics, anthropology, and development studies. Special emphasis is placed on comparative legal analysis and Eurasian legal systems, with the aim of fostering scholarly dialogue on how legal norms function across different socio-political contexts. The journal serves as a platform for examining the intersection of law and society in a globalized world, with particular attention to emerging legal challenges and institutional practices in Russia, Eurasia, and other jurisdictions.
